Belgian wall triggers devastating victory over Chinese Taipei

Resistencia, Argentina, August 21, 2015 - An astounding blocking performance from Belgium was the key for a 3-0 (25-11, 25-9, 25-22) result over Chinese Taipei, with the play for places 17-20 resumed in Resistencia. The European side built an enormous difference by 18-0 numbers.

On the first set already, Belgium scored 9 stuff blocks against none from the Asians. The wall continued to grow as the match went on, while Chinese Taipei could only watch how they were stunned over and over.

Belgian captain Simon Peeters topped the scorers with 12 tallies, followed by opposite Gil Hofmans with 10. Setter Florian Malisse distinguished himself at the net with 5 blocks out of a total of 9 points. On Chinese Taipei, no player reached double digits.

The result boosted Belgium to a 6-point total atop of Pool F, as they are only a step away of grabbing that 17th place. Chinese Taipei will finish their run in Argentina against Egypt.
