Resistencia, Argentina, August 22, 2015 - Racing for the fifth place of the final ranking, USA and Brazil struggled through five sets, with the latter triumphant 3-2 (25-21, 22-25, 25-22, 15-25, 15-10) with a superb output by Kaio Ribeiro, with 23 points.
Kaio’s energy was the beacon for Brazil, as the wing spikers topped the scorers’ list of a hot night in Resistencia. Opposite Daniel Martins de Pinho acted as wingman with 16 points, while Brazil did very well in blocking at team level, with 19 stuff blocks well distributed through all the starting players.
USA mainly fed of Brazil’s unforced errors, as the American numbers were clearly lower than in previous games. Micah Ma’a moved from setting to spiking throughout the game and he was the most prolific scorer of his side with 12 points, 4 of them with his crushing serves.
This way, Brazil will collide with Italy on Sunday for the fifth place, the highest possible rank outside the elite of the Final Four.
