Chile prevail 3-2 in five-set thriller against Chinese Taipei

 

Corrientes, Argentina, August 14, 2015 – Chile and Chinese Taipei played the FIVB Boys’ U19 opening match in Corrientes showing the audience a great volleyball match that ended in a heart-stopping tie break in favour of Chile.

Commanded by the setter and Captain Esteban Villarreal Soltau, who showed an amazing 5-points service performance, Chile could manage to beat Chinese Taipei in 5 sets (22-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19, 16-14). Fernando Cañas (CHI) and Hsua Cheng-Chao scored 19 points and ended as the top scorers. Min Han-Chan and Matias Ruiz Vidal accompanied with 17 and 16 respectively.

The match was very even between the Southamerican and the Asian team, in a crowded Regatas’ Hall. The people gave the players a warm welcome and cheered in every rally, motivating the stars to give a high-level volleyball show.

After three sets of Asian domination, Felipe Cañas and his teammates finally overpowered the fierce defense of Chinese Taipei and won the fourth comfortably. In the tie break, Chile prevailed by making less mistakes than their rivals, and finally won in a tight definition (16-14).
