Corrientes, Argentina, August, 23, 2015 – Germany defeated Mexico in 4 sets to secure 13th place in the final ranking, leaving the Americans in the 14th place.
Matus Kalny, Germany Head Coach: “To finish the tournament with a victory it’s always a good thing. We ended with a 4-4 record, it’s not bad regarding the great teams we have faced. We need to keep working with our service and continue to improve our attack phase; it’s the most important aspect of our game. Julian (Zenger), Max (Auste) and Tobias (Krick) did a very good tournament and should be taking into account for the first German team”.
Julian Zenger, Germany: “We made a great preliminary round but had a few bad moments against the top teams. The match we had to won was against France and we didn’t, so I am a bit disappointed about our performance. I’m proud of my individual production (best digger in the tournament); the World Championship is the most important tournament and I think I was up to the challenge”
Gabriela Alarcon, Mexico Head Coach: “We came to Argentina expecting a 10th place minimum, but we suffered some circumstances that didn’t let us fulfil that objective. The positive aspect is that we could give all the players in the team the chance to play and gain some experience facing other important competitions to come. We need to draw a better work plan”
Christian Aranda, Mexico Captain: “Ridel transmitted us a lot of confidence, so when he left we really felt it. We lacked a lot of self esteem but against Chile, for example, we forgot about that and made a fantastic comeback built on the fight and sacrifice. It was a good tournament for us; we played well against very powerful opponents”
