France prevail Bulgaria in European clash for 11th place

Corrientes, Argentina, August, 23, 2015 – France outscored Bulgaria in a very irregular match that defined the 11th and 12th position in the World Championship (29-27, 23-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-11). Joachim Panou led “Les Bleus” to the victory with his 21 points, but it was Plamen Shekerdhiez who scored the most (27).

Thibeault Thoral led his team to a final win scoring 18 points but playing greatly in reception and defense. France showed flexibility and consistency, as coach Olivier Audabram made Leo Chevalier, Killian Weidner and Fran Novotni-Kasic play, starting from the substitution bench and having pretty good performances.

There was no big difference in the stats: Bulgaria prevailed in attack (62-50) and service (7-6) but was subdued by the French block (12-17) as well as in unforced errors (39-27). Stefan Ivanov showed another great offensive display (19 points) but it wasn’t enough for Bulgaria.
