Golden finale of Day 1 as Martínez and Benavídez guide Argentina to joy

Home captain Felipe Benavídez reached his best on the final track of the win

Resistencia, Argentina, August 14, 2015 - Another fantastic five-setter brought emotions to their highest when host team Argentina climbed back twice to defeat France 3-2 (16-25, 25-23, 25-27, 29-27, 15-12) in a packed Alejo Gronda Hall in Resistencia.

Local duo of Jan Martínez and Felipe Benavídez got together with 20 and 17 points respectively for an amazing result, while French captain Joachim Panou scored 26 times for his side.

The game was an incredible contest as both teams were leveled not only on the plot but also on every scoring department. France outlasted Argentina on spiking (55-51) and serving (7-6), but such slim margins were not enough for the win.

Pool A is already looking mouth-watering as both matches finished in five sets, with USA and Argentina leading so far with two points apiece. However, local boys will rest on Saturday, while the Americans will meet Belgium.
