"I don't feel the pressure of being the main weapon" recognises Russia's Yakovlev

Corrientes, Argentina, August, 19, 2015 - Russia found the solution to their problems in Dmitry Yakovlev’s right arm. With 27 points of the opposite, they defeated Bulgaria in the European clash from Round of 16 and advanced to the next round, where they will face USA.

Andrey Nozdrin, Russia Head Coach: “We lost the concentration in the 3rd set, I saw some level of relaxation that we cannot allow. Our main purpose was to block their outside hitters and we did, so I’m happy with the performance of my players. We worked very hard to get to this point”

Dmitry Yakovlev, Russia: “This match was really hard; Bulgaria is a really strong team. Luckily and not making a great match we could win and advance to Quarterfinals. We hope fans in Resistencia support us the same the people in Corrientes did. It’s my job, my role in the team to score the difficult points, I don’t feel the pressure of being the main weapon; I just like to play”

Dragan Ivanov, Bulgaria Head Coach: “Congratulations to Russia, they play very well, with a bestial service, a very important aspect to keep this victory. We must try to work better and make every little thing better to raise our level.”

Radoslav Parapunov, Bulgaria Captain: “Russia is maybe the best team here: they serve strong and have a nice block, that’s why they beat us. We had lots of break point balls and opportunities to take distance but we couldn’t accomplish them; now it’s turn to face Mexico. We came here to play and gain experience for the future; I hope me and my partners get to the first Bulgarian team”
