Iran breezed past Chinese Taipei with a wide victory

Corrientes, Argentina, August 17, 2015 – Iran almost finished Chinese Taipei's aspirations of advancing to the next round with a convincing 3-0 triumph (25-15, 25-16, 25-16) in a match that barely passed the 63 minutes of gameplay. Chilean players and staff stayed to watch the show and celebrate a vital result for them.

Multifunction Aghchehli Rasoul scored 15 points for Iran, among 8 spikes, 4 aces and 3 blocks to be the most distinguished player in the Corrientes’ midday shift. Aliasghar Mojarad shined in the blocking and serving phase, where Iran tripled Chinese Taipei 12-4 and 9-3.

With this victory, Iran climbed to the second position in Pool C with a 2-1 record and 6 points, 3 less than the unbeaten Polish squad. Tomorrow, the Asian champions will face Bulgaria to close the action in this first round, looking for the best ranking and starting to think in their play-offs rival. As for Chinese Taipei, their initial sprint might not be enough to be among the best 4 of the pool as they need a huge performance against Poland to move on.
