Poland demolished Japan with a fantastic Dawid Woch

 

Corrientes, Argentina, August, 19, 2015 – Japan surprised everyone in Corrientes with a phenomenal performance in the first set but finally lost in 4 against Poland (20-25, 25-15, 25-11, 25-13). Dawid Woch was distinguished in every aspect of the game to send the Polish straight into the best 8 teams in the competition.  

Japan started the match trusting they could put Poland in big trouble. 14 mistakes by the Europeans and an excellent performance of Kenyu Nakamoto and Yuki Suzuki gave the Asians the first set surprising everyone in Corrientes. But when Poland returned to the field for the second chapter, everything changed.

Sebastian Pawlik’s boys totally outscored Japan in every single aspect of the game: spiking (44-25), serving (10-1) and mostly blocking (19-4) with a distinguished level of Dawid Woch, who scored 18 points among 6 spikes, 7 blocks and 5 aces. Tomasz Fornal was the top scorer in the Corrientes’ midday shift with 19 points, well accompanied also by Bartosz Kwolek (13) and Jakub Ziobrowski (13).

Poland will now have to deal with China in the Quarterfinals, while Japan will try to overcome Turkey in the first match of the loser’s draw.
