Russia border perfection as they end USA’s unbeaten march

 

Resistencia, Argentina, August 21, 2015 - In a match that was as close as fantastic, Russia displayed all of their might to shut down USA at quarterfinals. The Russian side emerged victorious 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-23) and advanced to semifinals, keeping alive their hopes of retaining the crown.

Russia’s grueling pace was led by an 18-point production of massive scorer Dmitry Yakovlev, while wing spikers Anton Semyshev and Aleksei Chanchikov chipped in with 11 apiece. Talented setter Konstantin Abaev not only fed them well but also aced four times, including the final point of the game.

On the other side of the net, USA did very well in spite of the negative result, but they failed on seizing the slight chances that were presented during the game. Opposite Kyle Ensing - best scorer with 11 points was the highest point among the likes of libero Joe Worsley, setter Micah Ma’a and intense blocker Scott Stadick, this last one with 7 stuff blocks.

The result repeated the panorama of last U19 World Championship, when Russia finished USA’s hopes with an identical 3-0 - though the last one was wider an during Round of 16 stage.
