Shekerdzhiev led Bulgaria to a major comeback

 

Corrientes, Argentina, August, 16, 2015 – Chinese Taipei couldn’t contain Bulgaria and wasted a 2-0 lead to end losing in an 5-set match plagued with errors (25-23, 25-16, 19-25, 26-28, 11-15). Chen Fu Yen and Plamen Shekardzhiev scored 23 and 21 points respectively in the second victory of Bulgaria in Pool C.

Bulgaria wasted a comfortable 11-16 lead in the first set by making 10 unforced errors and not being capable to control Yen’s rage, falling 25-23. Chinese Taipei grew and started playing high speed combination games with Chan Min-Han and Chiao Hsuan-Cheng, to win the second comfortably 25-16.

Coach Ivanov made encouraged his players and the Europeans showed a different attitude, measured their mistakes and started to put in trouble the Asians’ reception. Shekerdzhiev and Parapunov shined in the offense and started to turn the course of the match by winning 3rd set 26-28.

The fourth was the closest chapter of the game. Chinese Taipei’s duo Chan/Yen almost gave their team the victory but Ivaylo Ivanov appeared in the exact time to send the match to a tie-breaking definition (26-28). In the ending period, Bulgaria took a 2-8 initial lead and teared apart Chinese Taipei’s expectations and concluded a nice comeback (11-15).
