Tobias Krick helped German 3-set victory with 6 kill blocks

Corrientes, Argentina, August, 16, 2015 – Germany assured its place in the next round after defeating Puerto Rico in straight sets (25-18, 29-27, 25-17) with the blocking power by Tobias Krick and a very fierce attitude that allowed them to win a unfavorable second set.

Luis Ocasio’s 14 points weren’t enough for Puerto Rico in their second match in this World Championship. Krick scored 13 among 6 blocks, 6 spikes and 1 ace serve. Maximilian Auste helped the German triumph with 11.

First and third set had very similar developments. Germany took rapidly the lead with an intelligent distribution by Thiel and an incredible blocking performance by Tobias Krick. It was in the second chapter where Puerto Rico had the chance to take the set, but the inexperience of the young players gave Germany an extra life and a very tight set definition (27-29).

Puerto Rico needs to obtain a victory to advance to the next round in one of the two matches they have left, either Russia, Brazil or both. Germany still have to confront Russia to confirm its position in Pool D standings, facing the World Championship elimination round.
