USA emerge after a nail-biting battle with Turkey

Ewert did well for USA as the main scorer of the winning side

Resistencia, Argentina, August 14, 2015 - Led by Jordan Ewert, USA worked all the way to defeat a scrappy Turkish side by 3-2 (25-18, 18-25, 26-24, 22-25, 15-13) in the first Pool A game in Resistencia’s Alejo Gronda Hall.

Ewert topped all American scorers with 21 points, while Michael Wexter followed with 14 and 213cm tower Scott Stadick unveiled 6 kill blocks for his side. USA wrapped up a 13-9 margin on this aspect of the game over Turkey.

Even though the Turkish team showed some great spirit to climb back twice into the game, at the end it wasn’t enough. Spikers Abdullah Cam and Adis Lagumdzija provided 23 and 21 points respectively, as the only players on the team to reach double numbers.

Both teams grabbed their first points of the tournament with this result - USA temporarily lead the pool with 2 points and Turkey is trailing with 1.
