USA land on seventh place after smooth win over China

Resistencia, Argentina, August 23, 2015 - Opening the final competition day in Resistencia, USA cruised to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-15) win over China and secured a positive seventh place on the final standing.

USA coach Ken Shibuya used this farewell game to give a chance on court to all of his players, with Reese Devilbiss as the most active American scorer with 13 points. Micah Ma’a added another 5 aces to his count and finished the competition with a brilliant mark of 36 service points. USA also outserved China 11-1 at their last game.

Even though their energy was not the same, China had their moments on the second chapter, but eventually couldn’t extend the game. Nonetheless, Yu Yuantai topped the charts once more with 14 kills, to complete an amazing run in Argentina.

The seventh place represents a huge jump for USA, as the team upgraded nine places from Mexico 2013 - where the final ranking was 16th. On the other hand, China failed on defending the silver medal harvested two years ago.
