Italy enjoyed the result of a good preparation against Cuba
Resistencia, Argentina, August 14, 2015 - The solid display from Italy at Pool B opener in Chaco was the result of both preparation and good blocking skills, according to the European captain. Cuban players also praised the output of the opponent.
Gianluca Galassi, Italy captain: "I think we played very well and winning is the best way to start the competition. We haven't seen Cuba before, but we knew that they were a strong team since they qualified second in NORCECA Championship. We prepared this game a lot and the result is this victory. The best we did was blocking because against players like the Cubans which are good in attack, is a good weapon to win."
Adrián Goide Arredondo, Cuba captain: "The game wasn't easy, but it was the first match of the competition and we still have a lot of work to do. We didn't reach our best in individual performances, our attack was weak and reception didn't work. We hope to improve for tomorrow's game. Italy is a great team with very good skills and we congratulate them."
