Yu leads China to swift recovery over Mexico

Spiker Yu Yuantai in action during China's win over Mexico

Resistencia, Argentina, August 16, 2015 - Defending runner-up China netted a first FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship victory after defeating Mexico in straight sets (26-24, 25-17, 25-21), with Yu Yuantai’s athletic abilities at full display in Resistencia.

Sparked by Yu’s 18 points, China handled the game comfortably, preventing any comeback from Mexico. The Asian block played a key role on this quest, as China outscored Mexico 14-10 with blocks from all of their players.

Mexican killer Ridel Garay Nava once again carried the flag for his side, this time with 16 conquests, three of them with his left-handed service. However, Mexico dropped to 1-2 on Pool B with 3 points, the same amount achieved by China after the win.

On Monday, Mexico will finish pool play schedule when they take on fellow NORCECA team Cuba. Previously, on the first game of the day, China are going to clash against Egypt.
