Corrientes, Argentina, August, 23, 2015 – Turkey defeated Cuba in a tight match resolved in straight sets (25-11, 35-33, 26-24) with an astonishing performance by Abdullah Cam, who totally carried his team offensive weight with 23 points to reach the 9th place in the final standings.
Cuban striker Miguel Angel Lopez Castro’s 15 points looked diminished by the fantastic offensive display of Turkey’s Abdullah Cam. The absence of Adis Lagumdzija obliged the setter Ogulcan Yatgin to charge Cam with lots of balls, and the hitter didn’t let him down. He also contributed with 4 blocking points that helped Turkey took the match in two extremely closed sets (25-33, 26-24).
With this triumph, Turkey took the 9th place with a perfect 9-16 classification round that included victories over Japan, France and this one against Cuba. The Caribbeans, on the other hand, finished 10th after beating Chile and Bulgaria.
