Captain Garay spearheads Mexico’s win over Egypt

Right-foot start for Mexico in Argentina as they subdued Egypt in three sets

Resistencia, Argentina, August 14, 2015 - A match-high 19 points by team captain Ridel Garay Nava guided Mexico to a solid 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-22) victory over Egypt on the second Pool B game in Resistencia.

Garay Nava was well backed up by teammate Bruno Cruz, who chipped in with 12 points. Mexico also gave a serious headache to Egypt from the service line, with 8 aces - 5 of them from left-handed Garay, definitely the brightest star of the game.

On the African side, Omar Aly was the most prolific scorer with 18 tallies, but Egyptian players found themselves trailing all along the game. Substitutions made by coach Emad Eldin Nawar had no real effect on the final outcome.

With this result, Mexico and Italy are now pool leaders, together with 3 points and they will meet each other on Saturday’s first game. Egypt will now face a rest day and resume play on Sunday.
