Chinese Taipei stole Puerto Rico's victory in a 5-set battle

Corrientes, Argentina, August, 19, 2015 – Chinese Taipei recovered from a 0-2 disadvantage to win in 5 sets against Puerto Rico in the first match of the 17th-20th position round robin in Corrientes (24-26, 32-34, 25-20, 25-17, 16-14).

Hsuan-Chen Chiao led the scoring sheet with 26 points, while Gabriel Garcia had 24 for Puerto Rico.  Even in attacks (68-62) and service (5-5) the big difference between both teams came in the blocking phase, where Chinese Taipei was highly superior (21-11).

After 2 favorable sets for Puerto Rico, but very close in their development, Chinese Taipei could adjust the defense and complicate the Caribbeans with high speed combinations and good blocking performances.

With this match it started the round robin of the worse qualified teams in the preliminary phase. After the rest day, in which there will be no action regarding the World Championship nor in Corrientes or Resistencia, Puerto Rico will face Belgium and Chinese Taipei will do the same with Egypt.
