Corrientes, Argentina, August, 18, 2015 – Iran outblocked Bulgaria in a 4-set battle held in Corrientes (25-20, 25-14, 26-28, 25-14), with another outstanding performance by Aliasghar Mojarad and Emirhossein Esfandiar. Aleks Grozdanov pushed Bulgaria to win the 3rd set but was not enough for the Europeans.
It looked like Iran were to win comfortably, but Bulgarian pride and game appeared in the third with Grozdanov and Shekerdzhiev in great level. The Asians were surprised with the growth of Bulgaria and resigned a straight set victory making a small bunch of mistakes in the last moments.
Aliasghar Mojarad outscored Aleks Grozdanov in their individual blocking battle (7-6) but Iran was greatly superior in that aspect (19-9) and also in service (10-5). Esfandiar contributed with 15 points (9 in the attacking phase) to make Iran ensure at least the 2nd place in Pool C.
