Mexico's Gabriela Alarcon: "The lack of Ridel made us lost the tactical order"

Corrientes, Argentina, August, 21, 2015 – Mexico missed Ridel Garay Nava – third best scorer in the World Championship – and lost to Bulgaria in straight sets.

Gabriela Alarcon, Mexico Head Coach: “The absence of Ridel (Garay Nava, 3rd best scorer in the WC) made us lost our tactical discipline and order. We recovered them in the third set, together with the will to win, but Bulgaria served very well and beat us with no mitigating factors; We started playing late in the game.”

Christian Aranda, Mexico Captain: “The greater difference was not technical by attitudinal. We lost a key player but we have the means to replace him. We could have won; we just need to believe that we can”.

Dragan Ivanov, Bulgaria Head Coach: “We needed to find a variation for the opposite post because Radoslav (Parapunov) suffered a torn ankle; we hope tomorrow he will be recovered. It’s our desire to continue improving our level, even playing against not powerful teams.”

Stefan Ivanov, Bulgaria: “It was an excellent opportunity for me; I haven’t played so much in this World Championship and I was really looking forward to. I think it would be great for us to face Cuba; their attack level is very good and we need to play against that kind of teams.”
