“Unbelievably exciting” game and environment at Argentina-USA

Resistencia, Argentina, August 18, 2015 - Pool play ended on a high note in Resistencia, as local people filled to its maximum Alejo Gronda Hall to support Argentina against USA. Although the crowd favourites were defeated, the amazing scenario still emerged as a virtue, and even USA’s coach and captain enjoyed the atmosphere.

Micah Ma'a, USA player: "I think we played a really good match, our volleyball was very good even considering the environment was tough. Argentina is a great team, they did it very well and I'm glad that we won."

Ken Shibuya, USA coach: "The match was unbelievably exciting, people of Resistencia did a wonderful job coming to the stadium and supporting both teams. It was the best environment. We played a very good match, probably our best so far in this tournament against a very strong team like Argentina."

Felipe Benavídez, Argentina captain: "I think USA showed it best volleyball and we couldn't offset that. We didn't expect they play in that way; they complicated a lot with their service and we couldn't control it. We finished the game out of focus, and we have to admit that they played better. We must learn from this for tomorrow's game."

Luis Testa, Argentina coach: "USA's service really affected our attack. They played as we thought they were going to do it, but we didn't expect them to serve so well. The difference was minimal in the last two sets; we have to correct those details for tomorrow's game. The boys have a positive mind and want to go through the next stage."
