"We can beat Brazil and Russia" ventured Puerto Rican Luis Ocasio

Corrientes, Argentina, August, 16, 2015 – Germany prevailed against a weakened version of Puerto Rico that presented fight in the second set. Luis Ocasio believes his team can still advance to the next round, even having to face super teams Brazil and Russia.

Matus Kelny, Germany Head Coach: “We were all the time increasing our game. We broke their head in the second set and could impose comfortably in the third. We didn’t have the pressure of winning; that played in our favor.”

Tobias Krick, Germany: “We have a very strong will and wanted to win all the time. We believe in ourselves all the time, that’s our strongest quality. We kept improving our level with every point we made.”

Julio Ruvira, Puerto Rico Head Coach:  “We failed again in the key moments; our inexperience played against us. The players that came from the bench could quickly blend with the others; we could have made a better match. We are one victory away from the next round; it won’t be easy against Russia and Brazil, but it’s a World Championship and anybody can beat anybody.”

Luis Ocasio, Puerto Rico: “We lacked concentration and calm in the crucial moments. We were desperate to score and made a lot of mistakes, losing control of the match. We need a victory to stay alive, and our mental strength and love for our partners can take us far.”
